Description…

APEX1 is the major endonuclease in human cells, playing a role in DNA repair and the celluar response to oxidative stress. APEX1 is an apurinic/apyrimidinic (AP) endodeoxyribonuclease in the DNA base excision repair (BER) pathway of DNA lesions induced by oxidative and alkylating agents. Several splice variants have been identified for this gene, all encoding the same protein.
